LAHORE - Efforts are underway to bring back Abid Boxer, a former inspector wanted to the Punjab police in connection with several criminal cases, an official said on Wednesday.
Police sources said the former police inspector was arrested by authorities in Dubai on Tuesday night. The arrest came after the federal government notified the Interpol to help them arrest the man who was declared as proclaimed offender in police record.
Police sources said the murder suspect would be brought back to Lahore within days. He was wanted to the police in several cases of murder and attempted murder. Reportedly, he had been hiding somewhere in Dubai for the last several years. In late 90s, Boxer was among the powerful but tainted police officers known for extrajudicial killings and forced disappearances. Boxer got ‘fame’ after stage dancer Nargis addressed a press conference and accused him of torture. She accused the policeman of shaving her head on refusal to develop relations.
