Knife attack on nurse stirs up protest

CHINIOT-As a nurse was attacked by motorcyclists with knife, her colleagues went on strike and shut down the Out-Patient Department (OPD) of District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital.
Azra Parveen was going back home from the hospital when two motorcyclists intercepted her near Mohallah Puran Palad, Chiniot City and attacked her with a long knife which hit her hips and she fell down. The attackers fled and passersby called Rescues who shifted her to DHQ Hospital.
Hearing the incident, the doctors and paramedical staff shut down the OPD and lodged a protest rally against the incident.
ospital MS Dr Bashir expressed grave concern over the incident. He said that such incidents would create a sense of insecurity among the medical professionals especially females. He demanded immediate arrest of the culprits.
On the other side, city police registered a case under sections 337-F-II and started investigation. SHO City Ghulam Shabbir said that police had taken CCTV video of the incident and investigations were underway.
