BAJAUR AGENCY -  A tribal elder was killed in a remote-controlled explosion in Bajaur Agency on Wednesday, the local administration officials said.

They said that Malik Farooq Khan was going to a nearby market in the mountainous Hialal Khail area of Charmang valley, some 25 kilometres northwest of Khar, when an explosive device placed along the road went off. The blast critically injured the tribal elder who was shifted to the Agency Headquarters Hospital Khar for treatment.

However, the injured elder died on the way to a hospital in Peshawar on Wednesday.

Following the blast, a team of the local administration and security forces reached to the spot to trace the attackers.

According to the officials, a search operation was on underway in the area to arrest the miscreants Involved in the attack.
