Unity among sects, religions prerequisite to peace: Paul





ISLAMABAD – Advisor to the Prime Minister on National Harmony Dr Paul Bhatti on Monday said that unity among all sects and religions is prerequisite to promote peace and counter challenges of terrorism and extremism.
He made this statement while addressing a ceremony held in premises of Police Line Headquarters Islamabad marking New Year and Christmas. IGP Islamabad Bani Amin Khan, DIG (Headquarters) Sultan Azam Temuri, SSP (Headquarters) Yusuf Malik, Priests of various churches of Islamabad, police officials and employees from Christian community attended the ceremony.
Dr.Paul Bhatti urged employees of Islamabad police to work hard to bring good name for  this force and adopt responsible attitude for accomplishing responsibilities assigned to them from time to time.
Bhati spoke highly of chief of Islamabad police Bani Amin Khan and appreciated his efforts to make islamabad police ‘ citizen friendly force’.
Addressing the participants IGP Islamabad Bani Amin Khan said the personnel from minorities including Christian community are contributing significantly in Islamabad police and have been assigned very important duties in the department as a part of effective policing.
“There is need to promote interfaith harmony and this ceremony has been arranged with the same purpose. We will keep on promoting interfaith harmony at least in Islamabad capital territory police,” IGP Islamabad said.
Bani Amin Khan said that Christians and people from minorities are performing in various wings of Islamabad including Special Branch, police stations and also as police commandos. Their contribution in maintaining peace and ensuring security in the city is greatly appreciable, he added.
The IGP made it loud and clear that there is no discrimination with any of the employee serving in Islamabad police and performance of each cop is gauged purely on merit. Later, Dr. Paul Bhatti and IGP Islamabad Bani Amin Khan distributed gifts among the Christian employees of Islamabad police.
