PPP condemns removal of BB's picture from BISP logo

SLAMABAD -  Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians Secretary Information Dr Nafisa Shah on Sunday condemned the act of removing Benazir Bhutto's picture from the Benazir Income Support Programme logo.

She said that this act of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz was malevolent and it proved that former president Ziaul Haq’s ‘disciples’ still had bitter feelings for Benazir Bhutto.

In a statement, Dr Shah said the BISP was passed by the parliament to pay tribute to the services, sacrifices and struggles of Benazir Bhutto for constitution and democracy.

Furthermore, she said that Nawaz Sharif wanted to end the programme but due to the protest of international donor agencies he could not.

Dr Shah said that strong protests would be held against this decision in the National Assembly and the Senate.

She said that the PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif was Ziaul Haq’s blue-eyed so he appointed former dictator Pervez Musharraf's near and dear one as the chairperson of the BISP.

“The ones who are trying to erase Benzair Bhutto’s name will soon be erased themselves from the pages of history,” she added.
