All roads leading to Murree from Islamabad sealed due to tourists influx

Rawalpindi/ISLAMABAD-Tens of hundreds of cars, passenger coaches and trucks in Murree and Nathiagali after heavy snowfall on Friday brought chaos to the hilly areas. 
As many as 60,000 vehicles with tourists on board entered Murree causing gigantic traffic jam with heavy snow and rain for last many hours.
“More than 4,000 vehicles were stuck at the peak in Murree and Nathiagali,” said a source.
According to a spokesman of City Traffic Police, as many as 160,000 vehicles entered in Murree since Monday. He said the CTP is trying its level best to control traffic rush. 
Similarly, intense shortage of fuel, gas, accommodation, wood and food also hit the tourist hub.
All roads leading to Murree from Islamabad had been sealed following the orders of district administration. “Keeping in view the influx of tourists in Murree, all roads have been closed barring entry of more vehicles in Murree,” said a spokesman to Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Hamza Shafqaat. 
Some tourists shared with media and on Twitter that massive traffic jam has doubled the miseries of public in Murree.
Following orders of City Police Officer (CPO) Sajid Kiani and Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Taimoor Khan, a heavy contingent of police and traffic wardens are easing traffic flow in Murree.
On the other hand, the tourists shared with media that district administration Rawalpindi has badly failed in solving the problems of visitors in Murree. 
“I came with my family from Gujranwala to Murree to enjoy snowfall but got stuck in traffic jam for three hours,” said Zeeshan Ahmed. He said no official of Murree administration could be seen on roads to help the tourists.
“I am facing road closure along the Expressway caused by snow,” said another tourist Kamal.
He said many people were trapped on roads with no rescue operation on part of the district administration Rawalpindi.
Meanwhile, continuous heavy rain dropped mercury in twin cities.
Rain water inundated streets and roads at Murree Road, Committee Chowk Underpass, Pirwadhai Underpass and Peshawar Road.
WASA MD Raja Shaukat along with staff visited many areas and directed staff to pump out rain water with heavy machinery.
