Protests to continue till announcement of fresh elections, warns Bilawal

LAHORE   -  Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Friday chaired meetings of the party’s Sindh and Balochistan chapters at Bilawal House Lahore to discuss organisational matters and the party strategy for the February 27 protest call against the government.

Bilawal asked the provincial leaders to seek applications from candidates for the local and general elections. He said the party will make the final selection of candidates well before time to give sufficient time to the contesting candidates for the electioneering.

The PPP chairman also issued instructions to the party cadres on how to mobilize the people to join the party’s protest march towards Islamabad on February 27. He also briefed them about the party’s strategy regarding the Kissan rallies ahead of the long march and the planned protest outside the Parliament on the day the mini budget is put to vote.

Bilawal told party men that PPP’s protest will not end till the announcement of the fresh elections in the country.

Later, talking to the media, PPP’s central Secretary Information Shazia Marri said that Bilawal Bhutto would be the candidate for the prime minister after the next general elections. She also announced that Bilawal Bhutto had nominated Ali Badar, son of late Jahangir Badar as his spokesperson.

Also, Bilawal Bhutto on Friday went to the Lahore residence of former Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani to condole the death of his mother-in-law.
