BAHAWALpur police detail ‘achievements’ under NAP

The National Action Plan is being implemented in letter and spirit as it is a national cause thus negligence in this regard will not be tolerated at any cost, said the regional police officer of Bahawalpur Division.
If anyone is found negligent, he will be dealt with sternly, said Dr Ehsan Sadiq while talking to The Nation. More than 1,400 cases had been registered, 1,415 accused arrested and 1,401 challans had been submitted to the courts under the plan by the Bahawalpur Police in Bahawalpur Division in 2015 so far, he added.
He said that capacity building programmes were also running under this programme while two batches of 185 Jawans of Bahawalpur Range had completed the training of QRF from Pak Army. He said that 280 cases were registered, 293 accused arrested and 279 challans had been submitted to the courts under the Punjab Sound System (Regulation) Ordinance 2015, in Bahawalpur Division. Out of these cases, 142 cases had been decided by the courts, he said. As many as 113 accused got the sentence of conviction and fine by the courts, he said.
“Ninety-four cases have been registered, 100 accused arrested and 90 challans have been submitted to the courts under the Hate Material Cases (295 to 298-C PPC, Section 9&11-WATA). Out of these cases, 55 cases have been decided by the courts. 32 accused got the sentence of conviction and fine while 1 accused got the sentence of fine by the courts,” he said. “25 cases were registered, 26 accused arrested and 21 challans had been submitted to the courts under the Punjab Prohibition of Expressing Material on Walls in Bahawalpur Division. Out of these cases, 8 cases have been decided by the courts. Six accused got the sentence of conviction and fine by the courts.”
He further said that 952 cases were registered, 958 accused arrested and 880 challans have been submitted to the courts under the Punjab Arms Ordinance 1965 in Bahawalpur Division. Out of these cases, 12 cases have been decided by the courts. 9 accused got the sentence of conviction and fine by the courts, he said. Thirty cases were registered, 25 accused arrested and 28 challans submitted to the courts under the Punjab Security of Vulnerable Establishment Ordinance 2015 in Bahawalpur Division, he said and added out of these cases, 8 cases have been decided by the courts while 4 accused got the sentence of conviction and 4 got the sentence of fine by the courts.
Under the Punjab Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance, he said, six cases were registered, 9 accused arrested and 5 challans submitted to the courts in Bahawalpur Division. Hundred cases were registered, 107 accused arrested and 98 challans had been submitted to the courts under the Punjab Information of Temporary Residents Ordinance 2015 in Bahawalpur Division. Out of these cases, 67 cases had been decided by the courts. 57 accused got conviction and fined by the courts, he said.
