Preparations for anti polio drive fine-tuned

HAFIZABAD

The three-day anti-polio campaign will be launched in the district from March 14.
In this connection, a meeting was held here on Monday with District Officer (Cord) Shahid Ismail Mirza in the chair. The participants reviewed preparations made for the campaign across the district. They stressed the need for active role of Ulema, teachers, parents and the Health Department to ensure the success of the anti-polio campaign.
On the occasion, EDO Health Dr Muhammad Asalm Shaheen said that 482 mobile teams are being constituted which would visit door-to-door to administer anti-polio drops to 195,890 kids below five years of age.
RUST ATTACK: Punjab Director General Agriculture (Extension) Dr Muhammad Anjum Ali Butter has stressed the need for creating awareness about the likely attack of RUST on the wheat crop for ensuring maximum yield.
He said that provincial government was taking all possible steps for the economic uplift of the cultivators and was providing subsidised modern technology so as to enable them to increase per acre yield of the food production. He said that due to the present weather the attack of ‘teelay’ and ‘kungi’ (RUST) cannot be ruled out and directed the officials of Agriculture Department particularly field staff to visit every village to create awareness about the likely attack of rust on the standing wheat crop and to prevent attack to save the crop.
