Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif says that he wants Pakistan Peoples Party's (PPP) Raza Rabbani as the next Senate chairman.
Former PM Nawaz Sharif spoke to media, "It is also my personal wish to see Rabbani as Senate chairman." He further said, “Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and its allies consulted over the Senate chairman's post yesterday and all agreed on Rabbani, the incumbent chairman.”
Nawaz Sharif was speaking outside the Accountability Court after appearing for hearing the Avenfield properties reference against him and his family today.
PML-N believes that explaining that Raza Rabbani fills the criteria of who should be heading the Senate.
Nawaz was asked if PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari doesn’t want to appoint Rabbani, to which he responded, "if his leadership doesn’t want to place him there then we’ll find someone like that from our own fold".
