4 areas placed under smart lockdown in Peshawar 

peshawar   -   District administration enforced a smart lockdown in four areas of the provincial capital to contain the coronavirus spread.

According to a notification from the Peshawar district administration, Hayatabad Phase 4’s Street No. 2 and Phase 7’s Street No. 10 were placed under the lockdown from 6pm on Sunday.

In addition, Street No. 4 on Shami Road and Street No. 5 of Muslimabad, Kakshal locality have also been placed under the “controlled entry and exit” rule.

The statement said that essential food, medicine, and emergency services, shops and ovens would remain open in these areas. 

However, gatherings would not be allowed while congregational prayers in mosques in the mentioned areas would also be restricted to five persons.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reported five fatalities and 193 new coronavirus cases on Sunday. So far since the outbreak of the contagion, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has lost 2,109 lives while the tally of COVID-19 cases has reached 73,708 cases.

The number of cases has registered a steep rise across the country since the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) lifted restrictions in February-end.
