Pakistan receives over 1.2 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine

Over 1.2 million doses of British coronavirus vaccine AstraZeneca have arrived in Pakistan.

According to details, the first consignment of the vaccine includes 1,248,000 doses of the vaccine.

Meanwhile, Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar has said that Pakistan’s first batch of bulk CanSino vaccine is being processed at the National Institute of Health Islamabad.

In a tweet, he said the plant for this purpose was established last month and specially trained team is working on it.

Asad Umar said the vaccine will be available for use by end of this month after going through rigorous control checks.

On the other hand, Pakistan has reported 120 deaths in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of positive cases has surged to 854,240. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 18,797 on Saturday.

According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) 4,109 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

Punjab remains the worst-hit province in terms of deaths and cases followed by Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Till now 8,951 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab 4,722 in Sindh, 3,562 in KP, 706 in Islamabad, 503 in Azad Kashmir, 246 in Balochistan, and 107 in GB.
