Former president General (retired) Pervez Musharraf Wednesday welcomed an eventual merger announced by Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM) and Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP).
“I am very happy at this coalition of the Mohajir community, that MQM and PSP have decided to collaborate,” Musharraf said in a video message shared by his All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) party on social media.

In a joint-presser at Karachi Press Club, MQM-P chief Dr Farooq Sattar announced a "political coalition under one name, one party and one manifesto" with Mustafa Kamal's PSP.
"We are starting our struggle for Pakistan and Sindh under one party, one symbol and one name," said Sattar who was flanked by Kamal and activists of MQM-P and PSP.
"Our political alliance is for the betterment of Sindh. The purpose of this press conference to be prevent a possible divide of Karachi's vote bank," he added.
Kamal, a former Karachi mayor and MQM dissident, said the two parties had been in talks for a possible merger since six months.
"This is for the betterment of the masses. The combined political struggle won't be known as MQM. There will be a new party, a new manifesto, and a new name," he added.
The two also rejected the results of 6th Population and Housing Census and said the federal government purposely reduced the numbers of Karachiites in papers to usurp the rights of the citizens.
