Sindh govt to dispatch animal fodder to drought-hit Thar

The Sindh government has decided to dispatch animal fodder, worth Rs 50 million, to Tharparkar as part of measures taken to tackle the severe drought in the region.

In the first phase, the government will send fodder worth Rs 50 million to the drought-hit area of the province. The allocation of amount for the next phase will be decided by the government afterwards.

Reports had surfaced that dozens of goats, sheep, cows and camels died due to hunger in the drought-stricken region.

Meanwhile, hundreds of children have also fallen victim to malnutrition in Thar and died.

Last month, the Supreme Court had summoned the Sindh chief secretary and other top officials in a case pertaining to the deaths of children owing to malnutrition in Tharparkar.
