Conviction hurt nations feelings

Our Staff Reporter MULTAN - A string of rallies against conviction of Mumtaz Qadri, killer of former governor Punjab Salman Taseer, took place here on Friday. The participants of all the rallies had a unanimous demand-suspension of sentence and immediate release of Qadri, saying otherwise they would launch a countrywide drive against the rulers. The rallies were organized by Tehreek Namoos-e-Risalat, Jamaat-e-Islami, Sunni Ittehad Council and Jamaat Ahle Sunnat Pakistan (JASP). Hundreds of workers of above mentioned parties rallied on city roads and shouted slogans against government. The rallies were held in Ghanta Ghar, Kalma Chowk, Madni Chowk and Chungi No-14 areas. Allama Mazhar Saeed Kazmi and others said that the conviction of Mumtaz Qadri had badly hurt the sentiments of Pakistanis, asking the government to immediately cancel the sentence. Otherwise the followers of the Holy Prophet (SAW) will take to the roads and throw the rulers out of Islamabad. The government will be responsible for the situation, they warned.
