HAFIZABAD
The government will spare no expense to reach out to flood devastated people and provide them with food and shelter. The government has pooled all resources and God willing, each and every affectee will be look after till their rehabilitation, declared Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif during his visit to flood affected area of Jalalpur Bhattian here on Sunday.
He said that although unprecedented rains and flood were natural calamity, the government was making all out efforts to evacuate the marooned people from their villages situated on the bank of River Chenab.
On the occasion, he was informed by the Hafizabad DCO that more than two dozen boats had already been provided for the evacuation of marooned people and prompt action was being taken by Pakistan Army, Rescue-1122 and the police to shift people to safer places. He informed that relief camps had been set up where healthcare and food facilities had been made available.
The DCO also told the chief minister that all the villages located in the protective embankment had been affected by floodwater.
On the occasion, Shahbaz Sharif ordered for the provision of more boats and helicopters for prompt evacuation of the marooned people. He assured the flood-stricken villagers that they would be compensated properly.
The Punjab CM also announced Rs150 million as compensation for the flood-affected people of the district.
