QUETTA - National Accountability Bureau has taken notice of inordinate delay and unsatisfactory work in Quetta Water Supply and Environmental improvement Project (QWSEIP) carried out by the construction company NCL who despite having received the major amount did not complete the project.
“The revised cost of the water project QWSEIP was Rs 10 billion whereas Government of Balochistan released about Rs 9 billion to the NCL for its completion, however, NCL left the work incomplete despite release of project’s major amount,” Secretary PHE Zahid Saleem told Director General NAB Balochistan Mirza Muhammad Irfan Baig during a briefing held to review the pace of work on QWSEIP and Mangi Dam. DG was informed that NLC laid down pipelines (1505 km) for distribution of water but there is no drawing and other relevant record available with the QWSEIP.
DG Nab while expressing his dissatisfaction over the inordinate delay and standard of work in water project said that those responsible would be dealt with iron hand. He issued directives to call NCL authorities alongwith all records to ascertain that who caused loss to the national exchequer by delaying the project of very important nature. “Water project that launched for the people of Balochistan would be completed at any cost,” he maintained.
