CCPO inspects security arrangements for Khatm-e-Nubuwwat conference at Minar-e-Pakistan

LAHORE - Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ghulam Mehmood Dogar visited various parts of the city on Tuesday and reviewed the situation of security and law and order.

The CCPO also visited Minar-e-Pakistan to check the security arrangements being made by Lahore police to ensure the protection of the participants of “Khatm-e-Nubuwwat Conference”. DIG Operations Capt (r) Suhail Ch, SSP Operations Waqar Shoaib Qureshi, SP City Rizwan Tariq and other related police officers were present on the occasion. SSP Operations Waqar Shoaib Qureshi briefed the CCPO about the security arrangements made for the conference. The SSP operations informed the CCPO that as many as three SDPOs, 12 SHOs, 45 upper subordinates and more than 500 FCs had been deployed for the security of the conference under the supervision of SP City division. “Teams of different police stations, Dolphin Squad and Police Response Unit (PRU) have been ensuring continuous and effective patrolling around the premises of conference and adjacent areas,” he said. “Snipers have also been deputed on rooftops to keep vigilant eye on the movement of vehicles and persons around and to ensure safety and security of the conference,” he added. “Search and sweep operations have also been conducted on a regular basis in the city particularly in specific areas to check and arrest criminals as well as anti-peace elements prior to the conference,” he stated.

The CCPO checked the deployment of officers and officials of Lahore police at arena of conference in Minar-e-Pakistan as well as personnel of police stations, Dolphin Squad and Police Response Unit. He directed them to be highly alert, keep vigil on suspects and ensure effective patrolling around the premises of the conference and adjacent areas.

The CCPO also directed Traffic Police to ensure comprehensive traffic plan for smooth flow of traffic during the conference. The city police chief also held a meeting to review the security plan for the cantonment board elections. He ordered a foolproof security plan for 121 polling stations in Lahore Cantonment and 234 others in Walton Board. The CCPO Lahore directed the implementation of the poll’s code of conduct issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan that banned the use of loudspeaker in the campaign’s processions. CCPO Ghulam Mehmood Dogar said that security officials should be deployed outside the polling stations and voters should undergo a thorough checking before entering there. He said that the CCTV cameras should also be installed outside the polling stations for monitoring of the voting process. 

The CCPO further said that a three-tier security system should be put in place by installing metal detectors, walkthrough gates and barbed wires around the polling stations.
