COAS says NCOC remains pivotal to Pakistan’s riposte against COVID-19

President, PM laud National Command and Operation Centre’s vibrant role against coronavirus | NCOC’s tireless efforts helped control Covid: Fawad

ISLAMABAD - Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Sunday lauded the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) for its efforts to contain the deadly contagion.

He said that the NCOC has remained pivotal to the country’s response against Covid-19. “NCOC has remained pivotal to Pakistan’s riposte against COVID-19. It symbolises optimised national response in adversity, saving precious lives,” the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate tweeted Sunday. 

COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa further said that accolades for the NCOC team on completing 500 days of continuous struggle and delivery. The NCOC — a high-level forum established to combat Coronavirus in Pakistan completed its 500 days on Sunday amid praises by the prime minister and the government ministers.

Also, President Dr Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan Sunday lauded the outstanding and dedicated work of National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), resulting in a successful strategy to contain Covid 19 pandemic. In their separate tweets, the president appreciated the outstanding working of NCOC as an institute.

On his twitter handle, the president said that NCOC was a unique platform laid by Prime Minister Imran Khan, which proved its worth with a successful Covid-19 pandemic planning, bringing Pakistan in the forefronts of the comity of nations with regard to its successful strategy.

Prime Minister Imran Khan said our Covid-19 response strategy has been appreciated by the world and Almighty Allah with His blessings has protected Pakistan from the worst effects of the pandemic. In his tweet, the Prime Minister said that NCOC proved as linchpin in country’s Covid-19 response strategy.

The president and the prime minister reflected their thoughts on the dedicated efforts of NCOC as the body had successfully completed 500 days of its formation.

Earlier, Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar on his twitter account also shared a video documentary titled Azm-e-Alishan, featuring the NCOC efforts and nation’s response to the global pandemic.

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain on Sunday said that achievements against coronavirus had been made possible due to the tireless efforts and interest of the National Command and Control Centre (NCOC) for which its entire team deserved credit.

In a congratulatory statement on completion of 500 days of establishment of the NCOC, the minister said that the decisions to deal with the coronavirus outbreak since its inception were taken on the basis of scientific and ground realities.

Following the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan and the guidelines of the NCOC, he said that the government had adopted a balanced strategy of smart lock-down with its focus on the poor and the working class.

He remarked that had the country been completely locked down, it could have had dire consequences. Thanks to the efforts of NCOC that today, Pakistan was successfully fighting the fourth wave of the pandemic and its ratio was much lower than that in other countries, he added.

The whole world, he said, applauded the smart lockdown strategy, as Pakistan also fought the coronavirus and strengthened its economy.
