Punjab governor stresses role of taxation for economic growth

LAHORE -  Punjab Governor Malik Rafiq Rajwana has said that role of taxation is vital for economic growth, infrastructures development, and nation building and there is a need to broaden the tax net in the country.

While addressing the Lahore Tax Bar Association, he said tax evasion had to be reduced to achieve the revenue targets set for 2016-17 and TBA should play their role honestly.

He said that today’s Pakistan was much better and stronger than that of 2013, adding that law and order situation of the country had improved and business activities had been boasted.

He said that completion of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and other projects would have positive impact on the country’s economy. He said that only a constructive approach would be helpful for taking the country forward.

He added that strengthening of institutions will lead to political and economic stability of the country.

The newly-elected president of LTBA apprised the governor about their problems, who assured them that LTBA would also be taken on board to improve laws and regulations and for making Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) a people-friendly institution.
