Police arrest suspected robber during exchange of fire  

RAWALPINDI- Police have arrested a suspected robber in injured condition after an exchange of fire in Shalley Valley and recovered weapons from his possession, informed a police spokesman on Wednesday.  However, two other accomplices of the detained suspect managed to escape while resorting to intense firing, he said. The injured suspect was moved to hospital for medical treatment where he has been identified as Waqas Shah alias Vicky, he said.  According to him, a police party was on routine patrolling when the cops spotted three suspicious men riding on two motorcycles at Shalley Valley Road and signalled them to stop for checking. 

 

He said the three suspects opened firing on police party. Police retaliated and shot and injured one of three suspects, he said adding that the two other suspects managed to escape from the scene.

Upon getting information about the occurrence of the incident, a heavy contingent of police, led by SP Potohar Division Tassawar Iqbal and SDPO Cantt Circle Syed Azhar Hussain Shah, rushed to the scene and cordoned off the area.

The injured suspect was identified as Waqas Shah who was moved to hospital for treatment, he said adding that the accused was involved in injuring a policeman Ail Ayub by firing on a police party. He said police have conducted a search operation in the area to trace the fleeing suspects. City Police Officer Athar Ismail has appreciated the efforts of the police party.
