ISLAMABAD - Since the government has declared ‘Murree and Galyat’ as calamity-hit area after the deaths of tourists, the parliamentarians from treasury and opposition would focus its discussion on the troubled situation [in this hilly terrain] in the parliament.
Though President Arif Alvi has summoned the national assembly session to meet tomorrow specially for doing legislation on supplementary budget, yet the MPs would prefer to deliberate the deteriorating situation in Murree and Galyat. The opposition, as per its fashion, would blame the incumbent government for mismanagement in the area. PML-N’s leader Shehbaz Shabaz Sharif and PPP-P’s Co-Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari have strongly criticized the government over this calamity. The lawmakers from opposition benches, in the upcoming session, would grill the government for not properly handling the Murree situation. “Despite the warning, the government has failed to control the situation in Murree,” said opposition leader in the Senate Yusuf Raza Gilani while talking to The Nation.

“It was a total failure on the part of the government. Now, they are only passing the buck on each other. Saving lives and properties is the main responsibility of the government,” said Yusuf Raza Gilani. PML-N’s Ahsan Iqbal said that the warning had been issued for days before this messy situation but the government could not perform. “SOPs are there for such a situation but the government failed to implement it,” said Ahsan Iqbal while talking to this scribe.
PML-N’s chief-whip in the national assembly Murtaza Javed Abbasi also blamed the government for not taking the situation seriously. “Only after the casualties of tourists, the government sprang into action,” he commented.
