Weak economy a real threat: Mand

LAHORE - Nuclear scientist Dr Samar Mubarakmand says revival of economy should be given top priority, which will be possible only by overcoming the ongoing energy crisis. In an interview to Nawa-i-Waqt, he said disintegration of the Soviet Union because of a weak economy must be instructive for all countries. Once Pakistan strengthened its economy, no enemy would ever dare have evil designs against it, he said. Dr Mubarakmand said while making efforts to improve economy, the government should also take stringent measures to stamp out terrorism. Once the monster was effectively grappled with, process of industrialization would pick up momentum and people would start getting jobs. But, he argued, industrialization would not be possible unless electricity was available to meet all requirements. He said electricity was to industrialization as oxygen to human life. Answering a question, he said a strong defence and economy played an important role in safeguarding the sovereignty of a country.
