NAB Lahore recovered Rs110 billions

Since 1999, Rs10.12b recovered under volunteer recovery scheme | Rs15.5b through plea bargain and Rs83.83b under an indirect recovery

LAHORE - Since its inception in 1999, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore has got recovered a total of 110 billion rupees at the federal and provincial level.

According to a report issued by the NAB Office here on Tuesday, the NAB Lahore got recovered 6.75 billion rupees for 28 federal institutions and 102.76 billion for 32 provincial departments in the last 21 years. 

Since 1999 to till now, the NAB Lahore recovered 10.12 billion rupees under the volunteer recovery scheme whereas more than 15.5 billion rupees were recovered through plea bargain and 83.83 billion rupees under an indirect recovery.

As per break up, during the period 1999 to 2016 (17 years), 10 billion rupees were recovered through volunteer return while Rs 5.43 billion as plea bargain besides 23.17 billion as indirect recovery, making a total of 38.73 billion rupees during 17 years.

From 2017 to 2021, total Rs 70.85 billion were recovered during four years out of which Rs 10.18 billion were recovered through plea bargain and Rs 60.66 billion by indirect recovery.

The NAB Lahore made the recovery possible for the federal institutions which included Wapda (Rs 5.50 billion), Pak PWD (Rs270 million), Pak Railways (Rs170 million), State Life Insurance (Rs 47.5 million), Pak General Insurance Rs (86.2 million), Customs Department (Rs 110 million), FBR (Rs 87 million), AG Office (Rs 32.8 million), Military Land Cantonment (Rs 72.4 million) and Rs 45.8 million from NTS. 

However, the NAB Lahore also recovered a total of Rs 33.86 billion from the housing sector besides ensuring recovery of 6.5 billion rupees in fraud cases.

At provincial level, the NAB Lahore made recoveries to the tune of Rs 2.96 billion as it recovered Rs 1.14 billion for the LDA and Rs 1.67 billion for Punjab Cooperative Bank.

The NAB also recovered Rs 1.72 billion for Punjab government in various cases including Rs 101.8 million for Sargodha University, Rs 110 million for Revenue Department, Rs 730 million for Punjab Mines and Mineral Department and Rs 700 million for Punjab Cooperative Department.

Other provincial departments included AG Office Punjab, Excise and Taxation Department, Gujranwala Development Authority, Food Department Punjab, Punjab Highways, Punjab Rural Developments and others.
