LAHORE - Commissioner Karachi Muhammad Iqbal Memon has said that all sports including basketball will be fully supported and urged the traders and industrialists to promote positive and healthy activities in Karachi.
The Commissioner Karachi expressed these views in a meeting at his office with the players of Karachi basketball team comprising of youth of the city, which is participating in All Pakistan Basketball Event in Islamabad. Other notables present there were Hanif Gohar, Deputy Commissioner West Ghulam Qadir Talpur, Karachi team manager Ghulam Abbas Jamal Adv, Coach Zahid Malik, KBBA President Ghulam Muhammad Khan, Team Captain Mohsin Zia, Anas Usmani, Rana Atif, Usman Khawaja and Shakeel Swati.
“All sportspersons and sports including basketball will be fully supported because youth are our precious asset. If today, we provide better opportunities to our youth to hone their talent, in future, they will earn good name for Karachi as well as for Pakistan at across the globe,” he added.
Iqbal Memon said that Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah and Chief Secretary Sindh Dr Sohail Rajput sincerely wish that sports activities be promoted in the province especially in Karachi and its youth should be engaged in positive and healthy activities. He also appealed to the traders and industrialists of Karachi to play their part in promotion of healthy sports activities in the city.
Speaking on the occasion, Gohar Group of Companies Chairman Hanif Gohar announced that a mega basketball event will be organized in Karachi on the occasion of Independence Day of Pakistan, which will be fully sponsored by Gohar Group of Companies. He also paid tribute to Commissioner Karachi Muhammad Iqbal Memon for his efforts in actively promoting sports activities in the city and providing full patronage to its players. “Our institution is helping in the construction and development of the city. It is also taking steps to provide facilities for education, health and sports to the youth.”
On this occasion, Hanif Gohar also announced to fully sponsor the Karachi basketball team participating in Islamabad and gave them the gift of a complete kit. KBBA President Ghulam Muhammad Khan thanked Commissioner Karachi Muhammad Iqbal Memon and Hanif Gohar for their all-out support and especially honoring the Karachi basketball team and hoped that Karachi basketball team will try to give its best during the event in Islamabad.
