Allegations over number of vote of confidence are baseless: Asad Qaiser

Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser strongly rejected the opposition’s allegations regarding the number of votes secured by Prime Minister Imran Khan in the vote of confidence.

Talking to media persons, Asad Qaiser said he would resign if it is proven that there was some issue with even a single vote. He stressed that politicians have to promote democratic norms and should not lose the moral ground.

The Speaker said he will approach every Senator for support in Senate Chairman polls. He while stressing on independence of media, said that free press is the basic requirement for democracy and assured to provide  necessary facilities to journalists.

On the occasions, Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani has said that he will approach every political party as part of his election campaign for reelection to the seat of Chairman of the Upper House.

He said whosoever wins the elections of the Chairman Senate, our main focus should remain on strengthening the parliament and democracy.
