LAHORE-The qualifying round matches were played in the SA Garden Pakistan Open Tennis Championships 2021 here at PLTA Courts on Monday.
PLTA Secretary Rashid Malik expressed his gratitude to SA Gardens (SA Group) for sponsoring this week-long championship, which is being organised under the aegis of Punjab Lawn Tennis Association (PLTA). “The event will be contested in different age categories including men’s singles & doubles, ladies singles, junior boys U-18 singles & doubles, boys U-14 singles & doubles, boys & girls U-12 singles & doubles, boys/girls U-10 singles, boys/girls U-8, boys/girls U-6, seniors 40 plus doubles and seniors 50 plus doubles,” he added.
The main draw matches will start today (Tuesday) at 9:30 am, where top ranked players will be seen in action. The opening ceremony of the prestigious will take place today (Tuesday) at 4:00 pm and SA Gardens Director Sales and Marketing Ahmad Raza will grace the opening ceremony as chief guest. All the finals will be played on March 14 at 2:00 pm.
In the men’s singles qualifying first round, Hassan Shaukat beat Dr Nufaid 6-1, Shahzaib Zahid outplayed Abdulah Karim, Hassan Ali beat Umir Javeed 6-0, Hamid Israr beat Hassan Kamran 6-0, Bakir Ali beat Osama Khan 6-1, Saqib Khan beat Ali Durani 6-1, Ahmad Nael beat Zaeem Ghafoor 6-2, Farman Shakeel beat Ahmad Moeed 6-2.
Bilal Farooq beat Harris Raja 6-3, Mahatir Muhammad beat Mohammad Yousaf 6-1, Zaryab Pirzada beat Bilal Zia 6-1, Zalan Khan Beat Capt Danish 6-0, Ahtesham Arif beat Suhaib Waseem 6-0, Naeem Khan beat Omer Dilshad 6-0, Hamza Jawad beat Faisal Iqbal 7-6, Illam Khan beat Rana Humayum 6-4, Nauman Khan beat Waqas Basit 6-2.
