Multan - Training workshop for the installation of 500 shallow hand pumps in the backward areas of Multan district was organized by Rural Aid Pakistan in collaboration with Penny Appeal UK.
Provincial Minister for Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Mal Punjab Syed Yawar Abbas Bukhari also participated in the event. CEO Rural Aid Pakistan Mirza Moqeem Baig and Project Coordinator Sajjad Qasim welcomed Syed Yawar Abbas Bukhari.
Special Guest Syed Yawar Abbas Bukhari while addressing the participants of the training workshop said that serving the humanity should be the real purpose of human life. Divine pleasure is possible only by completing the rights of worshipers, he said.
We have to include the deserving in our happiness to make the society prosperous, he added. I salute the spirit of selfless service to the poor and needy peoples without any greed, he added. Rural Aid Pakistan’s projects are truly a blessing for the needy people, he said.
He added that the installation of 500 shallow hand pumps would provide basic necessities like water to the backward areas and thousands of families and 35,000 individuals would benefit from the project.
Addressing the gathering, Mirza Moqeem Baig, CEO, Rural Aid Pakistan, said that the project “Installation of 500 shallow hand pumps for vulnerable communities” with aiming to ensure that water-stricken populations have adequate access to clean water and knowledge of best hygienic practices is implemented by Rural Aid in the rural areas of Multan district with collaboration of Penny Appeal UK.
About 35,000 people will benefit from the project. Before installing hand pumps in villages, analysis will also be done by water testing laboratory, he said.
The hand pumps will be installed only after the results are positive and the availability of clean water is ensured.
He added that after the installation of the hand pumps, operations and maintenance committees will also be formed for maintenance and sustainability.
The establishment of the WASH/O&M committees and their capacity building, promotion of the knowledge, awareness and education about health/hygiene will playing an important role for the sustainability.
He also gave training to the participants on the project. Later, CEO Rural Aid Pakistan Mirza Moqeem Baig also briefed Provincial Minister Yawar Abbas Bukhari about other projects.
On which Syed Yawar Bukhari gave full assurance of his cooperation. At the end of the ceremony, Provincial Minister Syed Yawar Abbas Bukhari also distributed certificates among the participants of the training. Mr. Muzamal Yar Director Social Welfare & Bait ul Maal Department , Project Coordinator Sajjad Qasim, Muhammad Husnain and others were also present on the occasion.
