LAHORE - The Board of Governors of the Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust has unanimously elected former president Rafique Tarar as NPT Chairman.
It was decided in the meeting held at Aiwan-i-Karkunaan-i-Tehreek-i-Pakistan on Saturday. It was decided that Vice Chairman Prof Rafique Ahmad, Vice Chairperson Begum Majeeda Wyne Chief Coordinator Mian Farooq Altaf, Convener Women Wing Begum Mehnaz Rafiq, Convener Madar-i-MiIlat Centre Dr Parveen khan and Secretary Shahid Rashid would perform their duties as usual.  During the meeting, Nawa-i-Waqt Chairperson Rameeza Majid Nizarni was unanimously elected as member of the Board of Governors.
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif congratulated Rafiq Tarar on being elected as NPT Chairman. He expressed hope that NPT under the leadership of Tarar will continue its important role for the protection of ideological and geographical frontiers, elimination of extremism and terrorism and making Pakistan a welfare state in the real sense. Several resolutions were approved by the members of the Board of Governors. One of the resolutions expressed deep grief and sorrow on the sad demise of Pakistan Movement veteran Dr Majid Nizami. His death was termed a great national loss. A tribute was paid to his national, religious and journalistic services terming him the greatest torch-bearer of the ideology of Pakistan and the two-nation theory who had devoted his life to strengthening the rationale of Pakistan.
The glorious services rendered by him for fifteen years through the Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust’s platform with all his might and main would always be remembered. His stupendous struggle would serve as a beacon in furthering the great task of nation-building, the participants observed.
Nizami was, undoubtedly, the “Rahbar-i-Pakistan”. The resolution expressed the firm resolve of the participants to take the mission of the Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust with all the more zeal and zest on the guide-lines set by the departed one, and no stone could be left unturned to get his vision of transforming Pakistan into a modern Islamic democratic and welfare state, materialised.  In another resolution, the participants of the meeting lauded Shahbaz Sharif for his support to further the aims and objectives of the NPT. The participants appreciated his cooperation in the projects and activities of the Trust.
In another resolution, the participants welcomed the positive development in the operation “Zarb-i-Azb” launched against the terrorists in North Waziristan. They observed that it was imperative to annihilate the anti-state elements, using the state power. In yet another resolution, the participants expressed their solidarity with the IDPs and demanded of the government to take all the possible measure to alleviate the sufferings of the lDPs.
In another resolution, the international community was severely condemned for its criminal indifference to the Israeli aggression in Gaza and demanded of the UNO to protect the unarmed Palestinians against the Israeli terrorism. The OIC (the Organization of Islamic Conference) was also called upon not to rest contented with passing resolutions.
Another resolution made it clear that Pakistan could not afford political instability and disruption in view of its internal situation and that of the whole region. Both the government and the opposition were called upon to settle their differences through negotiation and desist from taking measures that could jeopardise the continuity of the democratic process.
Another resolution called upon the Government to make immediate arrangements for the Pakistanis besieged in Bangladesh. It was also demanded that Government should take all the possible measures to establish close relations with the Bangladeshi people.
One of the resolution demanded that the government must come up with comprehensive planning for preserving the natural environment and conserving the wildlife of Pakistan and fork ensuring sustainable progress. The participants expressed their deep reservations about the water, air and noise pollution and the diseases resulting from them, and demanded effective measures to improve the situation.
In another resolution, a deep concern was expressed about the widening of sectarian and creed differences by the anti-state elements and the nation was appealed to maintain complete unity and sectarian harmony among their ranks. The participants vehemently condemned the peculiar elements that were out to tarnish the personality of the Quaid-i-Azam and the ideology of Pakistan and demanded that these ramblers be blacklisted on the media.
In the perspective of the energy crisis, the participants demanded that the government should convince all the provinces regarding the utility of the Kalabagh Dam and forth-with start building it and bring to completion the other power-producing projects, too. It was demanded that keeping in view the poverty situation of our country, the govt. should initiate projects to provide cheap electricity to the masses.
In another resolution it was recalled that the Quaid-i-Azam had termed Kashmir the jugular vein of Pakistan politically and militarily and he was strongly desirous of seeing Kashmir annexed, to Pakistan till his last breath.
