Qureshi hopes new Indian govt would answer Pakistan’s ‘peace calls’

Expressing hope that the new Indian government would positively react to Pakistan’s calls for peace, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said on Monday that negotiations were the only way to calm down the heated relations between Pakistan and India.

While addressing the National Assembly session, Shah Mehmood Qureshi apprised the House regarding the relations that the country has within the region.

Commenting on the peace process with Afghanistan, the minister said that United States (US) asked Pakistan for assistance – to establishing peace in Afghanistan - in a letter by US President Donald Trump.

Qureshi said that all parties were required to participate in establishing peace in Afghanistan. He also said that Pakistan wanted lasting peace in the region.

He said that progress has been made in the issue at the meetings held at Doha and UAE but Pakistan presented its stance that all the burden shouldn’t be put on it.
