SC condemns terror attacks in Islamabad and Karachi

UNITED NATIONS  - The UN Security Council has strongly condemned the recent terrorist attacks in Pakistani cities of Islamabad and Karachi, and called for bringing to justice those behind these "reprehensible" incidents. In a statement read out to reporters on Tuesday by Ambassador Le Luong Minh of Vietnam, which holds the Council's rotating presidency for the month, the 15-member body reiterated "the need to combat by all means, in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations, threats to international peace and security caused by terrorist acts." "The Secretary-General urges all political forces to unite against the scourge of terrorism and expresses his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and to the government and people of Pakistan," according to a statement issued by his spokesperson.
