Nadra report exposes jhurlu in NA-118

LAHORE  - After verification of counterfoils of ballot papers of NA-118 Lahore, National Database and Registration Authority has submitted a report before an election tribunal, exposing forgery and irregularities in the electoral process.
According to the record submitted by Nadra, total votes polled in 68 polling stations were 46,118 and only 15,835 fingerprints were authenticated on the used counterfoils and electoral roles.  It further said that 4,043 votes were found which were polled on invalid CNIC numbers mentioned on the used counterfoils. The report described ‘invalid CNICs’ as the CNICs which Nadra has never issued. The report stated there were 142 votes which were found cast by those voters who were not registered in this constituency. Another 44 votes were polled by some others than the registered voters.
On Monday, counsel for PML-N’s winning candidate Malik Riaz requested the court to order for sealing of the report and issue directions for the media not to publish it.
On the other hand, Advocate Tipu Salman Makhdoom, counsel for PTI candidate Hamid Zaman, submitted that this report is not a classified document, so he should be given a copy of it. He requested the tribunal not to seal it.
However, the tribunal handed over a copy of the report to Advocate Tipu Salman Makhdoom and summoned Nadra DG and local commission on June 16.
