Police chief orders online cell for rural areas


LAHORE – The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Muhammad Habib-ur-Rehman is visiting the Southern Punjab to monitor the police working and to ensure provision of justice at grass root-level.
Police officials said that the IGP is paying special visits to the Southern Punjab as part of the Chief Minister’s vision to change Thana culture and improve the working of the law enforcing agency. On Friday, the IGP addressed Police Darbars in Rajanpur and DG Khan districts respectively.
According to a police spokesperson, on the orders of the Punjab police chief an online complaint cell is being set up at Police Headquarters in Lahore. This cell will directly work under the supervision of Inspector General of Police Muhammad Habib-ur-Rehman. While addressing the police Dardars, the IGP further revealed that and the cell would be made responsible for quick and immediate action on public complaints.
The IGP further said that the police stations would be made “Darul-Aman” by changing the thana culture.
The IGP said that the police would be provided latest weapons to counter crimes and to nab the criminals in DG Khan and its suburbs while the police strengthen would also be increased.
He also said that all police stations would be made model police stations in different phases. All type of interference will be discouraged in the police stations so that justice could be provided on merit to the complainants.
Regional Police Officer (RPO) DG Khan Region Muhammad Nawaz Warraich, DPO Malik Tassadaq Hayat, DPO Rajanpur Rana Ahmad Hassan, DPO Layyah, Muhammad Saleem and DPO Muzaffargarh Munir Ahmad Zia Rao were also present on this occasion.
Meanwhile, the IGP visited the Darbar of Hazarat Khawaja Ghulam Fareed and offered Fateha and laid floral wreath.
A day earlier, the IGP visited Multan region and listened to the problems of people by visiting different areas.
Taking strict action on complaints of bribery, the IGP suspended a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and two Inspector and ordered departmental inquiry against them.
Muhammad Habib-ur-Rehman suspended DSP Delhi Gate Saadat Mahdi, SHO Cantonment police station Inspector Rao Tariq and In-Charge Investigation Lohari Gate police station Inspector Rai Asghar.
