Robber killed, two injured in crossfire


LAHORE – An alleged robber was shot dead while two other men wounded during crossfire between a security guard and the bandits in broad daylight here in Faisal Town area, police sources said on Friday.
According to police investigators, two employees of a tent company were on their way to office after drawing Rs 1.2 million from a private bank when two gunmen riding on a motorbike intercepted them in Faisal Town area.  The bandits held up the men at gunpoint and demanded the cash. As the cashier and van driver offered resistance, the robbers opened straight fire at them. The cashier identified as Sanobar and van driver, Aslam, sustained bullet bounds and fell on the ground. In the meantime, a private security guard, who was on duty near the crime scene, challenged the robbers and opened fire on them.
The robbers sustained serious bullet injuries during the crossfire. One of the bandits fell on the ground while his wounded accomplice managed to escape from the crime scene.  Later, the police reached the spot and witnessed one of the bandits lying dead alongside a road.
