ST man among four perish in violence


KARACHI - Four people including an activist of Sunni Tehreek (ST) were killed in separate incidents of violence in parts of the metropolis here on Friday.
As per reports, a man was shot dead in Mirajun Nabi Colony Orangi Town in the limits of Mominabad Police. The deceased identified as 32-year-old Naseer Uddin, son of Mohammad Ali was sitting in front of his home situated at Sector-10 Mirajun Nabi Colony. All of sudden two armed motorcyclists appeared and sprayed him with bullets. Resultantly, he sustained bullets in the chest and died instantly. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for legal-formalities. Police official said that the deceased was a dispenser in ZMC dispensary in Orangi Town, adding that his elder brother was an activist of the MQM who had also been killed in the same manner few years ago. They, however, said that the deceased had no affiliation with any political party. Some unconfirmed suggested his affiliation with a banned outfit but the police denied the claims. Later, his body was handed over to the family. No case could be registered till filing the report.
Separately, an activist of Sunni Tehreek (ST) was shot dead in Godhra Colony in the remit of New Karachi Industrial Area Police. The incident took place at Sector 11-F New Karachi Godhra near Rehmat Medical Centre when unidentified bike-borne accused fired gunshots on 19-year-old Mohammad Saleem Qadri, son of Aslam Qadri, killing him on the spot. The body was shifted the ASH for medico-legal formalities, where scores of ST activists gathered. ST Spokesman Fahim Sheikh said that the deceased was the activist of ST New Karachi unit and condemned his killing. He demanded the government to arrest the culprits involved in the killing of Saleem Qadri. After the incident tension engulfed the surroundings of Godhra, forcing traders to close all major shops and market due to uncertainty. In another incident a man was shot dead at a barber shop in Mujahid Colony in the Orangi Town Police precincts. 27-year-old Fahim Uddin, son of Yaseen was a resident of Sector-10 Mujahid Colony Orangi Town. He was sitting in the barber shop when unidentified culprits riding a bike let off a volley of bullets on him, killing him instantly. The police official informed that the deceased was a security guard and cited his wife Saba Bibi as saying that the deceased had some dispute with Shehzad who might have been involved in the murder. The police have launched investigation.
Meanwhile, a man was gunned down on offering resistance near Pakistan Chowk in the jurisdiction of Pakistan Bazaar Police.
 The deceased identified as 50-year-old Wali Muhammad Somoro was going on his motorcycle, when unidentified men intercepted him and fired gunshots on him. He sustained bullet injuries and was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK), where he succumbed to his wounds. ASP Preedy Police Ali Asif said that cellphone was missing from the pocket of the deceased and suspected that he might have been killed on offering resistance in robbery incident. He said that the police found a card from his pocket which showed that he was a resident of Baloch Goth Gulshan Iqbal.
No case could be registered till filing the report.
