MANDI BAHAUDDIN
Not even a single teacher has so far been appointed at Girl Primary School of Hassan village here for the last 20 years.
According to the villagers, the Punjab government had set up the school on land measuring 5 Kanal of land provided by villagers from Shamlat Deh land in 1995. They said the building of school was completed but no teacher was posted. They have repeatedly requested the Education Department for making the school functional but education authorities ask them for mutating the school land to the government.
The villagers went to Revenue Department with a request to transfer the land in the name of government but the officials concerned delayed attesting the mutation without any justification, they said.
Last Wednesday, a delegation of villagers came for transfer of the land and posting of teachers to the school but they were told that DCO was not present. They waited for DCO till the office closing and went back disappointed.
Subedar Mansha, who was part of the delegation, told this scribe that their children were being deprived of education due to non-posting of teacher. He further said that that villagers had already given possession of the land to Education Department where the school building was raised and the mutation was just a lame excuse for delaying posting of teachers.
