Top seeds enter Federal Cup Tennis semis

ISLAMABAD  - Top seed Aqeel Khan, Shahzad Khan, Muzammil Murtaza and M Abid entered 31st Federal Cup National Ranking Tennis Championship men’s singles semifinals here at Senator Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex on Thursday.  

Fifth Seed Muzammil Murtaza stunned third seed Heera Ashiq of Lahore 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5). Muzammil won both the sets on tie-break by playing some powerful shots down the line. Muzammil Murtaza will face second seed M Abid, who outclassed Aman Attique of Islamabad 6-0 6-2. Aqeel Khan brushed aside M Shoaib 6-1, 6-1. Aqeel will now face fourth seed Shahzad Khan, who won his encounter against Mudassar Murtaza 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.  

Sara Mansoor, Sarah Mahboob Khan, Noor Malik and Ushna Suhail qualified for the ladies singles semifinals by eliminating their respective opponents. Second seed Ushna Suhail crushed Oreen Jasia of Peshawar 6-0, 6-0 while top seed Sara Mansoor routed Mehvish Chistie 6-2, 6-1. Sara Mansoor will take on Sarah Mahboob, who thrashed Mahnoor Sohail 6-0, 6-0. Noor Malik of Lahore stunned Khunsha Babar of Lahore 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 and will face Ushna Suhail challenge in the second semifinal.  

Yousaf Khan, Hamza Bin Rehan, Talah Bin Asif and M Shoaib moved into the boys U-18 singles semifinals by winning their respective matches. Talah Bin Asif from Kamara stunned third seed Asadullah Khan of Peshawar in a three-set match.
