UCET again closed down

BAHAWALPUR - The University College of Engineering and Technology, Islamia University, Bahawalpur has been closed for till further orders with immediate effect and all the students of the UCET, IUB have been directed to vacate the hostels of the college immediately. This step has been taken after the failure of talks for peaceful settlement of the crisis, as some elements foiled all the efforts being taken to resolve the issue. EX-PRINCIPAL UCET VIOLATES RULES The spokesman of the Islamia University, Bahawalpur has disclosed that the ex-Principal, University College of Engineering and Technology, Islamia University, Bahawalpur, Professor Jan Muhammad Kerio misused his office by giving admissions to his children out of merit. He clearly violated the admission rules of UCET, IUB. In a press statement, he said that Professor Jan admitted his son, Abdul Samad Kerio, and daughter, Miss Aneela Kerio in the UCET, IUB in 2006-07 and 2007-08 sessions with 54 percent and 62 percent marks in the FSc while the basic requirement for the admissions in the UCET was at least 60 percent marks in the FSc and 70 percent in FSc but Prof Jan Kerio admitted them in the college by surpassing the rules and regulations which was totally against his powers and a violation of merit.
