ISLAMABAD - The inauguration of exhibition entitled 'Rare Photographs and Documents of Pakistan Movement here Tuesday at the Heritage Museum, Shakarparian, has created fervour as the young showed their enthusiasm in it. The exhibition is jointly organised by the National Archives of Pakistan (NAP) in collaboration with the Lok Virsa - the National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage. The event is arranged in relevance to the series of special programmes, the Lok Virsa has planned to commemorate the Independence Day. Prof Dr Masoom Yaseenzai, Vice Chancellor, Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad was the chief guest, who formally opened the exhibition. The top heads of Lok Virsa and National Archives of Pakistan were also present on the occasion. Over 200 photographs are displayed on 25 panels whereas the exhibition also included 30 coloured blowups of 6x4 feet. The exhibits include Sir Syed Ahmed Kh-an, Sir Agha Khan III, Maulana Shibli Nomani, Maulana Nazir Ahmed, Maulana Muhammad Ali Johar, Maulana Shaukat Ali, Nawab Salim-ullah Khan, Maulana Zafar Ali Khan, Maulana Obaidullah Sindhi, Sahib-zada Abdul Qayyum Khan, Maharaja Mehmoodabad, Sir Abdullah Haroon, Allama Iq-bal, Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah, Chaudhry Rehmat Ali, Liaqat Ali Khan, Sardar Abdul Rab Nishtar, Qazi Muhammad Isa Khw-aja Nazimuddin and many others. On entrance of the exhibition venue, chronology of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah from 1876 to 1948 is displayed on a large exhibit. The rare documents contributed from the NAP archives of all the four provinces are also on display. They include copies of one the leading newspapers of 1942 when it was founded by the Quaid-i-Azam, Simla meeting of the All India Muslim League in 1906, the Quaid-i-Azams joining of the Muslim Lea-gue in 1913, presenting of All India Muslim Lea-gue Memorandum to David Lloyed Geo-rge, who was the UK Prime Minister in 1913, Quaid-i-Azam with his historic 14 Poin-ts and Allama Iqbals address at Allahabad 1930. They further include first, second and third Roundtable Conferences 1930-1932 in London, copy of notes by Quaid-i-Azam before discussions with Gandhi in 1938, Pakistan Resolution 23 March 1940, famous poem by Mian Bashir Ahmed 'Millat Ka Pasban Hai Muhammad Ali Jinnah that was read during Pakistan Resolution 1940 at Lahore and nomination papers of Quaid-i-Azam for Legislative Assembly 1941. Thye also include Sir Stafford Cripps proposal, constitution and rules of All India Muslim League 1940, leasing of Quetta Tehsil by Khan of Kalat 1881, military and tribal arrangements in Balochistan 1882, Boundary Line between Sindh and Balochistan 1862-1853-1900, Balochistan Gazetteer, notes on the affairs of NWFP by General Pollock, and several old and rare original miniature paintings. Speaking on the occasion, the Quaid-e-Azam University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Masoom Yaseenzai highly appreciated the exhibition and said that the exhibits would help the young generations to know the main footprints of the Pakistan Movement. The Executive Director Lok Virsa Khalid Javaid said that the exhibition was a joint initiative of NAP and Lok Virsa to pay tribute to the father of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and other great heroes in our national history. Another objective of the event is to get acquainted the younger generation of Pakistan about the sacrifices of our great leaders in creating a separate homeland for our people, he added. The exhibition will remain on display at the Heritage Museum till 14 August daily from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm.
