City receives scattered showers


LAHORE – The City received scattered rains on Friday, providing a much-needed respite to the Lahorites from the prevailing muggy weather.
Rains, overcast conditions and continuously blowing winds caused a considerable decrease in the mercury level. Clearing of sky after rains and abundance of sunshine, however, again turned the weather muggy causing the Lahorites to sweat profusely.
The rains added to the woes and miseries of people because the rainwater inundated several important roads. People came out of their houses in the evening to enjoy weather after the rainfall.
Major parks and picnic spots of the City attracted a large number of people including women and children in the evening. A huge rush was witnessed at Bagh-e-Jinnah, Jillani Park, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Jallo Park, Lahore Zoo and other picnic spots in the City. Massive traffic jams were witnessed on roads in the close vicinity of these picnic spots.
On Friday, the maximum and minimum temperature in the City was recorded at 36 and 26 degree Celsius, respectively. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 61 per cent. According to the experts, a seasonal low lies over northeast Balochistan and monsoon currents are penetrating upper parts of the country.
The local meteorological department has forecast partly cloudy weather with chances of thunderstorm / rain for the City during the next 24 hours. The met office has forecast mainly hot and humid weather for plains of the country. However, scattered rains / thundershower are expected in Islamabad / Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Peshawar, Malakand, Hazara, Kohat divisions, as well as Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan.
