UN hopes abused children will get justice

UNITED NATIONS - The United Nations said on Monday that while it has not yet officially heard about the reported major child sex abuse scandal in Pakistan, the world body hopes that the perpetrators of the crime would be bought to justice. “We have not heard from the government of Pakistan (about this case) ... but we hope the perpetrators would be brought to justice,” UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric told the regular noon briefing while responding to a question.
The story hit the headlines in the American print and electronic media, but so far there has been no editorial comment.
The government of Punjab on Sunday ordered a judicial investigation into the case that came to light last week after discovery of about 400 video recordings of more than 280 children being forced to have sex by the criminals.
