Its acceptance of Pakistan Hockey Federation invitation to play four tests in Pakistan was a great breakthrough for Pakistan sports which unfortunately is under going a period where the foreign teams have refused to come to this country on misconceived security fears. Pakistan Hockey Federation under the leadership of its president Qasim Zia and Secretary Asif Bajwa have succeeded in inviting a Chinese team which will herald a new chapter in Pakistani sports. Though there are over forty national federations but all have failed to host foreign teams except Pakistan Boxing Federation which had successfully hosted an international boxing event in Karachi three years ago and is all set to hold the second such event this month in Islamabad. Coming of the Chinese hockey team is personal success of both the PHF president and its secretary which was only possible when the Chinese national federation decided to send its team to Pakistan. Karachi Hockey Association will be the host of the Chinese and Pakistan teams during its five day stay in the city. It will be the host of the teams which will be lodged in one of the five star hotels and would also organize the two hockey tests. The secretary of the KHA Farooq Khan disclosed here Saturday that the KHA has requested the PHF to give them the hosting rights and once those were given the KHA held a number of meetings with the Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad in this connection who assured them government help in holding the matches and hosting the two teams.
