City calls for justice over Kasur barbarity

| Opposition blames tragedy on government

LAHORE - Condemning the killing of a girl in Kasur, leaders of political and religious parties as well as civil society members have called for bringing the culprits to book.

The leadership of PAT, JI, PML-Q, Pakistan Defence Council, factions of Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, Sunni Ittehad Council, Milli Muslim League and Majls-e-Wahdatul Muslimeen in their separate statements slammed the sitting government for its failure to protect the lives of people.

JI chief Sirajul Haq termed it the worst example of ‘human degradation’, saying: “Such shameful incidents has been taking place in and around Kasur since long but the rulers seemed to be totally blind.”

The government, he said, was not mindful of its responsibility to protect the life, honour and property of the masses as their only concern was to remain in power.

He said the persons involved in the criminal assault and murder of the minor girl were beasts and not human beings and they must be rounded up and handed down exemplary punishment.

PML-Q senior leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, DPC Leader Hafiz Saeed, MWM Secertary General Raja Nasir Abbas, SIC Head Sahibzada Hamid Raza also issued statements to condemn the incident.

They called upon the Punjab chief minister and law minister to step down. They said Punjab government completely failed to protect human lives and honour thus lost right to rule.

JUP leaders Pir Ijaz Hashmi, Sahibzada Abual Khair, Qari Zawar, JUI-F leader Maulana Amjad Khan, JUI-S Leader Maulana Farooqi and MML Head Saifullah Khalid termed the incident ‘brutal and against humanity and called for justice.
