LAHORE - Punjab Lawn Tennis Association (PLTA) Secretary General Rashid Malik has thanked Secretary Youth Affairs and Sports Asadullah Faiz for announcing scholarship of two Punjab tennis players.
Talking to The Nation, Malik (Tamgha-e-Imtiaz) revealed that during his visit to Punjab Tennis Academy to inaugurate the first-ever High Performance Tennis Training Camp 2022 sponsored by Ali Embroidery Mills and supported by Sports Board Punjab for accommodation and meal, Secretary Sports Asadullah Faiz has announced SBP’s scholarship for two talented and deserving tennis kids Asad Zaman and Bismal Zia. Both the kids will be given the monthly stipend of Rs 10,000 under this scholarship.
The PLTA Secretary expressed his gratitude to Asadullah Faiz for restoring the Sports Board Punjab’s scholarship after a gap of almost two decades as earlier, the deserving players used to get this scholarship to continue their games and to run their kitchens.
Malik urged the Secretary Sports to review the worth of scholarship amount and vowed that such stipends encourage and motivate the national players to give their best at higher level. He hoped that the SBP will also conduct a good number of tennis events this year especially junior event for the development of tennis at grassroots level.
