LAHORE - Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid inaugurated Rawalpindi Research Unit at the Rawalpindi Medical University on Wednesday. Present on the occasion were Additional Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department Dr Asif Tufail, Vice- Chancellor Rawalpindi Medical University Professor Dr Umar and faculty members. Dr Yasmin Rashid said, “Special emphasis is being laid on research in teaching institutions in Punjab. Research papers from Punjab’s medical institutions are being published the world over. Only through research our students can learn about the latest developments in the world. Our brilliant students are highlighting the country’s name in leading institutions of the world.” She also chaired the ninth syndicate meeting of the Rawalpindi Medical University.
The Health Minister validated the decisions taken during the 8th Syndicate meeting.
She approved syllabi for the MD and MS degrees for the current year.
She also granted approval for PhD degrees for Micro Biology and Molecular Biology.
The approval was also granted for affiliation with Watim Medical College. The transport fund was also approved for the year 2020-21.
The Minister also granted approval for vacant positions at Rawalpindi Medical University.
