NAB arrests former IGP

LAHORE - National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Monday arrested former inspector general of police (IGP) Mian Amin after a Division Bench of Lahore High Court dismissed his bail application in a NAB reference, accusing him of accumulating illegal assets. Mian Amin, who served as IGP Sindh, Punjab and Islamabad, is accused of illegally accumulating assets worth Rs 45m. An accountability of Rawalpindi had awarded him three years imprisonment in absentia as he fled the country after the NAB filed the reference against him. Later, the court had acquitted him from the reference while invoking National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO). However, after the cancellation of the said ordinance by the SC, proceedings were restarted against him.
