JKPNP flays non-Kashmiris’ settlement in valley

MIRPUR (AJK)
Jammu & Kashmir National People’s Party (JKPNP) Chief Pir Syed Salim Gillani said that the ongoing Indian move of settling non-state Hindus in the Indian-Held Kashmir would be strongly resisted.
“New Delhi’s nefarious move of changing the demography of the Muslim-dominated Kashmir state through the emergence of settlements of the non-state Hindu people in the occupied Kashmir valley, will never be allowed to be materialised at any cost,” Salim Gillani, who is also a senior Hurriyat leader from occupied Kashmir - currently on AJK visit, stated while addressing a news conference at Kashmir Press Club.
The Kashmir leader said that centuries-old Islamic identity of the Jammu & Kashmir being the Muslim-majority state in the Subcontinent will not be allowed to be shattered through such pre-planned conspiracies being hatched by India, he added.
Pir Salim Gillani called for early peaceful settlement of the Kashmir issue in line with the United Nations resolutions through grant of the right of self-determination to the people of Kashmir.
Kashmir, he reminded, is not a territorial dispute. Rather it involves the fate of over 16 million people of the Jammu & Kashmir state, he added. Gillani said that since Kashmir is the major cause of tension between India and Pakistan, the early peaceful solution to the long-standing conflict could lead to the emergence of peaceful relations between the nuclear-capable stataes.
He observed that since there were no chances of the conventional war between India and Pakistan at present, but if tension erupts, it might turn into the nuclear war which would leave nothing in the region, he warned. He hoped that the Line of Control would soon be vanished from the disputed Himalayan state of Jammu & Kashmir and the people of the state from either side would be in a position to move for trade and travel freely.
