KARACHI - Provincial Minister for Education and Literacy Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said there is no room in the Education Department for incompetent and corrupt officials.

Presiding over a meeting at the Sindh Assembly Building Committee Room on Thursday, Dahar said that only those who would deliver would stay in the department. He said that strict action would be taken against corrupt and incompetent officials without any discrimination.

Secretary (Schools) Dr Faizullah Pechuhu and education officers from Hyderabad, Larkana, Mirpurkhas and Sukkur divisions also attended the meeting. Expressing his displeasure with officials defying instructions, the minister said that clear instructions were issued about appointment of teachers through NTS, IBA Sukkur and Sindh University and their posting at the union council level, but these directives had not been implemented yet.

He told the officials to maintain the teacher-student ratio and ensure availability of at least one teacher for 30 to 35 students. He directed the officials to immediately post teachers where they were needed the most.
