Bench, bar integral parts of judicial system: CJP

ISLAMABAD - Members of outgoing and newly elected body of Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Wednesday called on Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed here. Talking to the outgoing and incoming cabinets of SCBA, the Chief Justice said, “It is indeed a matter of pleasure to welcome all of you as newly elected and outgoing cabinet of Supreme Court Bar Association”.  The outgoing and incoming cabinets of SCBA headed by Abdul Lateef Afridi and newly elected body of SCBA headed by its President Ahsan Bhoon called on the Chief Justice. The CJP further said that Bench and Bar are integral parts of the judicial system, therefore, it is upon both of them to address legal needs and expectations of litigant parties by providing speedy justice to them.  Bidding farewell to outgoing SCBA President Abdul Lateef Afridi and his cabinet members, the Chief Justice lauded services rendered by them and said that the Supreme Court Bar Association under Abdul Lateef Afridi performed very well. All the members of his cabinet played their role devotedly and wholeheartedly for cause of dispensation of justice.  Felicitating the newly elected SCBA President Ahsan Bhoon and his cabinet, the CJP welcomed them and said that he had cordial relationship with the Bar and he will be looking forward to the Bar for strengthening the institution of judiciary.  The outgoing President Abdul Lateef Afridi appreciated the CJP’s contribution for cause of administration of justice and said that they were lucky to have patronage of his lordship.  Ahsan Bhoon thanked the CJ for sparing time and assured of full cooperation to strengthen the institution by supporting constitutionalism, rule of law and independence of judiciary.  At the end of the meeting, they also presented a shield and bouquet to Chief Justice Gulzar as a token of respect and gesture of goodwill.
