ISLAMABAD - Awami National Party parliamentarians on Wednesday held meeting with Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and shared their concern over the recently passed Sindh People’s Local Government Law passed by the Sindh Assembly and the recently tabled National Accountability Commission Bill in the National Assembly.
Sources aware of the deliberations of the meeting informed TheNation that Raja Pervez Ashraf tried to pacify the ANP leadership and assured them that all their concerns would be addressed. He further assured the junior coalition partner leaders that government would take them on board while making important decisions.
The ANP parliamentarians from Sindh including Shahi Syed had grilled the PPP Sindh Chapter for keeping them in the dark on the SPLGL 2012 and added that it was the unreasonable treatment which led to their sole minister in the Sindh Cabinet to resign and their MPs had decided to sit on opposition benches.
Sources in ANP informed that Raja Pervez Ashraf had assured ANP leaders that their concern would be addressed on all the issues and soon he would be calling a formal meeting of the coalition partners to narrow down differences on core issues of discord between the coalition partners.
Meanwhile according to the press release issued by the Prime Minister media wing Prime Minister said that they valued the ANP support to the coalition government led by Pakistan Peoples Party through thick and thin. “We value this support and contribution of ANP”.
During the meeting, it was decided that gas produced in Northern Areas of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, especially “Tull” would be provided to the local population as per constitutional provision. The Prime Minister said that government was committed to development of the country and ensure allocation of reasonable funds for completion of development projects.
ANP delegation reiterated their resolve to continue its support for PPP led coalition government and expressed the hope that government would complete its term successfully.
The Prime Minister expressed confidence that legislators of ANP would continue to play their role in National Assembly and actively participate in legislative business.
The ANP delegation also apprised the Prime Minister about status of development projects in their respective areas. The delegation comprised of Senators Abdul Nabi Banghsh, Haji M Adeel, Ilyas Ahmad Bilour, Afrasiab Khattak, Ms Farah Aqil, Shahi Syed, Ms Zahida Khan, Amar Jeet, M. Daud Khan Achakzai, MNAs Haji Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, Arbab M. Zahir, Masood Abbas, Hamayat Ullah Mayar, Pervez Khan, Pir Dilawar Shah, Syed Haider Ali Shah, Ms. Bushra Gohar, Ms. Jamila Gilani and Ms Khurshid Begum.
